The Conch and Order
In the Lord Of The Flies the conch represents organization and order. In chapter 1 the conch is found by Ralph and Piggy, Piggy encourages Ralph to blow the conch to summon the other boys. During the meetings in the book the conch is used as a tool to make people not talk out of turn. The boy's sometimes take advantage of the conch. They do this so they can feel in charge in the moment when they are speaking, like when your in school and the teacher calls on you in class. At the end of the book a rock crushes the conch and Piggy gets crushed as well. With the conch being crushed, order among the boys is crushed too. This when all the boys go crazy, try to kill each other and everything is chaos.
"I got the conch," said Piggy indignantly. "You let me speech!"
