In Lord Of The Flies, Jack has a desire for power. At the beginning of the book you can tell right away that Jack wants power. You can tell when he and Roger both want to be "leader" of the island. But when the boys vote Roger gets the most votes. In the middle of the book Jack has a desire to hunt the sow, at the end of the book Jack uses the beast as a tool to make the other boys scared and he uses that to make him feel more powerful.
Jack is the one who created the "beast" because he is the one who killed the sow and put it on the stick and made the boys scared of it and in the process he makes him self scared of the "beast".
Jack desires power throughout the book, he is always looking a way to make himself leader or the more powerful one.
" I ought to be Chief," said Jack with a simple arrogance " because I'm chapter chorister and head boy. I can sing C sharp."
